Stitch of the Week 21: Butterfly Chain Stitch

Take a Stitch on Tuesday, May 28, 2013   Welcome to week 21!

This week’s stitch is Butterfly Chain stitch. Here is the SharonB’s Stitch Dictionary pages with instructions on how to do it.

There are no variations from this stitch, but it is based on some variations in the Chain Stitch family.  Once we reach this generation of the Chain stitch variants, I can see the progression to create this stitch, but it doesn’t resemble its family members much any more!

Please follow her procedure and put a link to your published Butterfly Chain Stitch and their variations pictures in the comments of the latest TAST post here. Just click the post title, and scroll down to the comment section!

This week’s stitch is Bullion stitch. Here is the SharonB’s Stitch Dictionary pages with instructions on how to do it.

Can I just insert here, how much this stitch intimidates me? I keep reminding myself that the first time I tried it, from written instructions alone, it was with rayon thread in a Brazillian embroidery kit. Disaster! But I am now determined to master it! In cotton, with lots of experts on hand 🙂

Here’s what SharonB wrote for TAST 2012 Week 20: Bullion Stitch. You can read her instructions and see inspiring examples there.
